I’ve been sick to my stomach since viewing the video of MPLS man, George Floyd.
Handcuffed on his stomach and held down by three police officers and one standing guard. One of them kneeling down on his neck. Unable to breathe, he cried out for mercy, “I can’t breathe.”
Bystanders yelling, hoping to get these officers to realize the severity of their force, as he struggled for air. Only to be ignored and threatened.
Ultimately, we all witnessed what I believe was his last breath. A human life taken with no regards. Just a blank, cold, defiant stare.
My heart aches for this man, his family, his friends. It aches for all the others who have fallen victim because of the color of their skin.
Racism is real people. I’ve experienced it myself. It can’t be minimized, it mustn’t be ignored.
When does this all end? Will it ever?
